Formed in 1962, The Dubliners is an Irish folk band from Dublin who started off under the name The Ronnie Drew Ballad Group. The five-piece group soon renamed itself The Dubliners and became a regular in both Dublin's and London's folk music scene of the early 1960s with its lively, traditional sound. Armed with a flamenco guitar, banjo, mandolin, tin whistle, harmonica and a set of spoons, the band released several hits such as "Seven Drunken Nights" and "The Black Velvet Band" through the end of the 1960. Despite its shifting lineup, The Dubliners' has maintained its Celtic twang through over thirty studio albums, two dozen compilations and a handful of singles by sticking to the basics of Irish folk music.
