Death In Vegas is a UK-based outfit the combines big beat electronica with psychedelic rock. The group is the brainchild of Richard Fearless, an English DJ who initially ran in the same circles as hit 1990s DJ and production projects like The Chemical Brothers. Using Death In Vegas as a means of recording and releasing music with more of a full band, rock and roll feel, Fearless teamed with Steve Hellier. Together, the two released Dead Elvis in 1997. Thanks to its well-constructed blend of big beat electronica's propulsive nature and the grimy grooves of psychedelic rock, the album yielded a number of successful singles, including the radio hit, "Dirt." Hellier has since left the project, replaced by Tim Holmes, who together with Fearless, has succeeded in keeping Death In Vegas afloat in the ever-evolving electronic music scene.
