There are few bands out there that are able to evolve with time, change their sound and become some of the more well respected groups in existence. For some groups, accomplishing these things are a carefully planned out affair orchestrated by third party management or record label officials; for other bands, like the pioneering electronic outfit The Future Sound of London, it's a natural career progression that happens because the band's members are creative geniuses who are incapable of producing hackneyed music that caters to a unintelligent crowd of people. The English group was founded in 1988 by two Brits and after releasing a slew of EPs, the band managed to create a certain amount of buzz for itself. The duo soon landed a respectable recording contract and started work on what was to become its major label debut LP. That album, Accelerator, was a seminal piece of music that helped progress the world of ambient music by adding elements of dub, trance and down tempo into many of its ethereal songs. The group has since gone on to release a few more albums, each building upon a progressive and entirely unique sound, and even though the duo isn't necessarily the most commercially viable group, it is one of the more respected bands that continues to make music.
