Frédéric François is a Belgian singer who was actually born in Sicily in 1950. When he was only two his family moved to Belgium, and when he was 12 he bought a guitar and started singing in cabarets after spending the day in the mines with his father. He first performed under the stage name François Barra but then changed it to Frédéric François in 1971. He is known mostly for his charming love songs or chansons in French.
