Stéphanie Sokolinski is a singer/songwriter and actress from Bordeaux, France who goes by her nickname Soko. After a Denmark radio program called The Black Boy Scout began playing and promoting her track "I'll Kill Her" in 2007, the song became a hit and caught fire in several other countries such as Australia and The Netherlands. Soko's brand of indie music, punchy blend of folk rock and pop, earned her a supporting spot on M.I.A.'s KALA tour of the UK in 2007, and shortly after returning to France she recorded and self-released her debut EP Not Sokute. After a brief hiatus brought on by the pressures of the music industry Soko released her debut album, I Thought I Was an Alien in 2012.
