The Drones

The Drones is an alternative rock band from Australia that rose to fame with its 2005 album, Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By. Initially formed in Perth, Western Australia in 1997 by Gareth Liddiard and Rui Pereira as a creative outlet for Liddiard's unique sonic amalgamations, The Drones eventually expanded to a full fledged band and moved to Melbourne in 2000. Though the group released music on a regular basis and maintained a fairly busying touring regime through the first half of the decade, it languished in obscurity until it recorded its breakthrough LP in 2005.
