American Nightmare was established in 1998 and was briefly known as A.N, American Nothing and Give Up the Ghost. Its debut album, Background Music, released in 2001 was much loved by hardcore punk fans. Their second studio album, We're Down Til We're Underground was the last one as Give Up the Ghost after which it disbanded for seven years. American Nightmare has been playing in shows since 2011. Their song, "The World Is Blue," from their 2018 album was highly anticipated one for hardcore punk enthusiasts.
