Dan Hartman (1950-1994) was a singer/songwriter and record producer from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania who was best known for a long string of successful hits in the 1970s and 1980s. Hartman first obtained international recognition and acclaim with the release of his #1 Dance Chart single "Instant Replay" in 1976. The single served to open the door for Hartman to enter the ever-competitive dance and blue-eyed soul scene in the 1980s, which only continued to inspire the singer/songwriter to release hit after hit throughout the decade. Hartman's music was also used in soundtracks for several hit films released over the course of his career. Although his life was cut tragically short in 1994, in many ways, Dan Hartman's influence on the music industry continues to go on.
