Rose Royce is an American R&B and soul group from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1975, the group is best known for their hit singles "Car Wash" and "Wishing on a Star". The group's original lineup consisted of Gwen Dickey, Kenny Copeland, Lequeint "Duke" Jobe, Michael Moore, Henry Garner, and Terral "Terry" Santiel. They released their debut album, Rose Royce II: In Full Bloom, in 1977, which featured the hit singles "Car Wash" and "I Wanna Get Next to You". The album was certified gold and earned the group a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Rose Royce went on to release several more albums, including Rose Royce III: Strikes Again! (1978), Rose Royce IV: Rainbow Connection (1979), and Rose Royce V: Golden Touch (1981). Throughout their career, Rose Royce has been praised for their unique blend of funk, soul, and disco, and their influence can be heard in the music of many contemporary artists.
