When a piano player attempts to play a piece by Maurice Ravel, he or she better have competent chops and be warmed up. Ravel, a French impressionist composer (March 7, 1875 – December 28, 1937), wrote such intensely arranged pieces that if a piano player was not a virtuoso, he or she will most likely stumble over the composition. If Ravel's music is performed well, though, then the tonal expressions are grandiose, and the rhythmic flourishes and melodies are easy to get lost in, making him a prominent composer within the impressionistic genre.
