Legend of Sleepy Hollow is an adaptation for stage of Washington Irving's short story of the same name published along with its equally famous companion piece "Rip Van Winkle" in 1820. The story follows a superstitious schoolmaster by the name of Ichabod Crane who has a run in with the ghost of a headless Hessian trooper who died during the American Revolutionary War. The story has captivated readers, particularly young ones, for generations, and many of the story's adaptations for stage and screen should not be missed.
