Tierra Santa is a heavy metal band from the La Rioja region of Spain, an area that is primary known for the red wines it produces. Formed in 1997, the group released its debut LP, Medieval, that same year. The album, a collection of power metal songs, was inspired by an assortment of classical, medieval Spanish stories. Though the band was able to foster a substantial fan base in Spain, many Americans were unaware of Tierra Santa's powerful music until the group went on its first North American tour in 2004.
