Aficionado is a post punk band from Albany, NY that formed in 2004 after lead singer Nick Warchol's departure from his former hardcore band. Though the ten piece ensemble, consisting of members from various musical backgrounds, took seven years to release its self-titled debut with No Sleep Records in 2011, the band emerged with a sound that is completely its own. After years of collaborating with free flowing ideas and editing its sound down to a consistent style, Aficionado takes pride in offering something different than the standard indie rock that is easily digested. The band creates music that spans genres, citing acts such as At the Drive-In, Hold Steady and Arcade fire as influences, while remaining rooted in punk and adding highlights of organ, flute and horn that result in a truly unique post punk sound.
