Candi Staton

Candi Staton's vocal prowess was apparent at an early age. When she was 11 she was thrown into an all-female gospel group to tour the country. The time spent on the road helped young Staton hone her voice and figure out what works and what doesn't in terms of stage performance. When she was old enough, the talented singer launched a successful solo career that highlighted Staton's R&B side but also her gospel roots. She's managed to stay active ever since and she continues to release albums of new material and tour frequently.
