First thing a musician and comedian has to come up with is a funny and catchy stage name. The Dutch born and German language singing musician, author and painter Franz-Josef Hagmanns-Dajka came up with the pretty good one: Funny van Dannen (even though it is just funny for German speakers). He started singing his sometimes critical, sometimes romantic but most of all funny and ironic songs in 1987 and released his first album in 1995. Usually it's just him and his guitar on recordings or live shows, although he sometimes is supported by guest musicians. Since 1999 van Dannen also often works together with the famous German punk band Die Toten Hosen and wrote a lot of songs for the band. Up to the day he released 15 albums, the last one in 2012 called Fischsuppe (Engl.: fish soup.)
