Rio Reiser was a German rock musician, songwriter, actor and singer. He was born in 1950 as Ralph Christian Möbius and became famous as the lead singer of the rock and punk band Ton Steine Scherben, of which he was a part until 1985. With his highly political and emotional lyrics he made Ton Steine Scherben one of the first and most influential German language rock bands of the 1970s and early 1980s. After the band split up, Rio Reiser started a successful solo carrier and released his first album Rio I in 1986 containing two of his most famous songs "König von Deutschland" and the ballade "Junimond". In the following nine years he made five more records and also got involved in politics joining the German left party PDS. After his unexpected, sudden death in 1996 he is still considered one of the most influential German rock singers of all times.
