Fronted by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nouela Johnston, Noeula is a music project based in Seattle that mixes the excellence of classical music with rock and roll sensibilities. As a child Johnston strived to learn every instrument she could get her hands on, starting with guitar and flute then working her way to clarinet, saxophone, piano and bass. While playing jazz stints for pay, she began to pick up the drums and was soon a multi-threat instrumentalist with an impressive repertoire. After fronting several different bands including People Eating People, submersing herself in Seattle's rich music scene and touring with international acts such as The Fall of Troy, Johnston channeled her creativity into Nouela's debut album, Chants. The album, featuring instrumentation recorded almost entirely by Johnston, is an emotional display of her ambition and intimate vocals.
