Jozef van Wissem is an experimental composer from The Netherlands who is renowned in the contemporary classical world for his minimalist approach to Baroque and Renaissance lute music. Based in Brooklyn, New York he has contributed his music to a wide range of projects, such as composing a piece to accompany Hans Holbein's painting, The Ambassadors, at London's National Gallery and scoring the video game, The Sims Medieval. Wissem released his debut solo album Retrograde: A Classical Deconstruction, in 2000, and continues to compose his own original material while also collaborating with various artists including industrial electronic music composer Maurizio Bianchi. He released his eleventh studio album, Arcana Coelestia, in 2012.
