One half of the drone duo Barn Owl, Evan Caminiti is a San Francisco-based guitarist with a hazy ambient sound. Though electric guitar is his instrument of choice, he shies away from amplifiers and rock and roll in favor of a spacious electric guitar soundscapes filled with texture. Caminiti released his debut solo album West Winds in 2010 with a sound that is both menacing and beautiful. He combines reverb with gentle guitar strokes and picking to create an echoing atmosphere that leaves room for some understated piano flourishes.
