John Parr is an English singer/songwriter and musician who played in various rock and roll bands before starting his solo career in the mid-1980s. With a new pop-oriented sound, he released the track "Naughty Naughty" in 1985 to commercial acclaim, leading to a national tour with his band The Business. While on the road, Parr attracted the attention of renowned producer David Foster, who asked him to record a theme song for the film St. Elmo's Fire. The resulting track, "St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion)," became a Grammy-nominated, number-one hit. Despite a steady stream of success throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Parr stepped away from music in 1996, but would eventually return to the scene a decade later to continue releasing pop records such as 2012's The Mission.
