The Brooklyn-based band Los Encantados is an indie rock outfit armed with pop-sensibilities and a California beach mentality. Inspired by T. Rex, Iggy Pop and the Beach Boys, the six-piece band creates a snappy brand of pop/rock that harks back to Phil Spector reverb and the breezy 1950s of the West Coast. Los Encantados released the first chapter of its EP trilogy The Same Damned Soul, in the April 2012 and released another segment every three months until October when Same Damned Soul: Chapter 3 was released. Inspired by the summer of 2010, the three-part EP is largely based on love and freedom, though the last installment carries heavy tones centered on the tribulations of love and distance.
