Evocation is a death metal band from Sweden that played a seminal role in the Swedish death metal scene when it first emerged in 1991. After two demos and several record contract offers, the band went on an unexpected and indefinite hiatus in 1993 and didn't return until 2005. The band snagged a multi-record deal with Germany-based label Cyclone Empire Records and finally released its debut album Tales from the Tomb, in 2007. The album was critically acclaimed and the band spent the remainder of the year touring and playing Sweden's largest metal festivals. Evocation released its third album Apocalyptic, in 2010, and is now recognized as one of the pioneering band so Swedish death metal, particularly for tuning its guitars in B-flat.
