Born in South Korea, PSY is a K-pop singer/songwriter, rapper and producer who captured the world's attention in 2012 with his radio and dance floor hit, "Gangnam Style." After dropping his debut album PSY... From the Psycho World! in 2001, PSY developed a reputation in his home country for his integration of hip-hop and pop music as well as for his blunt and often sexual lyrics. With each subsequent album, he stirred multiple controversies with various civic groups, ultimately having his 2002 record Ssa 2 banned to those under 19 years old and earning the nickname Bizarre Singer. His sixth studio album PSY's Best 6th Part 1, delivered "Gangnam Style" to wide-spread international audiences in 2012, making PSY the first Korean entertainer to have a major breakthrough with Western audiences.
