Vance Joy is a folk singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia who cut his teeth playing various cafes and small venues around the city, developing and polishing his music style in the process. His single "From Afar," released in January of 2013, captured Joy's approach to music perfectly, with its sparse instrumentation and doleful vocals, bringing him much recognition.
