Luciana Souza is a Brazilian jazz singer/songwriter and composer who has managed to cross over into the multifaceted world of classical music. Growing up in the sprawling Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, Souza moved to the United States, where she received a bachelors degree in jazz composition from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, then a masters from the New England Conservatory of Music. Releasing her debut album, An Answer to Your Silence, in 1999, Souza has gone on to win a Grammy and has grown into a prominent figure in the jazz community as well as a interesting fixture of the classical music world as well.
