A good deal of electronic music that falls into the house genre is mindless drivel that only serves one purpose: making people dance. Luckily there are electronic composers like John Digweed, who propel the house genre to new, unforeseen apexes and actually create a style of music that is both listenable and danceable. Born in England, Digweed first started DJing at the age of 13, and after kicking around the electronic scene for a few years, he got his big break in 1993 when taken aboard as resident DJ at a club called The Renaissance in Mansfield. By blending a number of sonic atmospherics with pulsating beats, he started composing a style of music that he referred to as progressive house. His music resonated well with an impressive number of electronic music listeners and now, nearly two decades after his break, Digweed is looked at as one of the leading figures of the electronic music scene.
