Jenny Slate is a comedian, writer and actress who is best-known as the creator of the short film series, Marcel the Shell With Shoes On. Hailing from Massachusetts, she moved to New York City and began earning recognition as one half of the comedy duo Gabe & Genny, along with Gabe Liedman, and as a commentator on various VH1 programs. She first earned national attention as a cast member on SNL during the 2009-2010 season, after which she co-wrote and voiced the online-released stop-motion short film, Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, which became a viral sensation and eventually a children's book. Slate continues to work both on an off television and is particularly well-known for her recurring roles on NBC's Parks and Recreation and Comedy Central's The Kroll Show.
