The Second City is an improvisational comedy organization that was founded in 1959 with the opening of its original Chicago-based theater. The renowned collective has since maintained a standard of excellence, training and unleashing a consistent stream of seasoned comedians into the greater world of entertainment, from Tina Fey and Dan Aykroyd to Stephen Colbert and Mike Meyers. The Second City enterprise has expanded into other parts of North America, with various touring troupes and satellite theaters based in cities like Los Angeles and Toronto.
