Founded in 1904, Botafogo is a Brazilian football club that competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the state league of Campeonato Carioca. The club plays its home games at the Estádio Nilton Santos and has several nicknames including “Fogão”, “A Estrela Solitária” and “O Glorioso”. Botafogo is a very prominent figure in Brazilian football and holds many records including the one for the monstrous 24-0 win over Mangueira in 1909 as the highest scoring win in the country. It shares the oldest rivalry in Brazil with Fluminense which is described as Clássico Vovô and has also won 2 Serie A championships. The club boasts of some of the best players in football as their alumni including World Cup Winners like Gerson, Jairzinho, Bebeto, Garrincha and Didi.
