Boston-based outfit American Hi-Fi is a pop punk band that takes the shiniest elements of alternative rock, emo and power pop. Formed during the heyday of commercial pop punk in the late 1990s, the band released its self-titled debut album in 2001. Led by the single "Flavor of the Weak," the album catapulted the band to the forefront of the growing and crowded scene. Over the next decade, despite the decline of interest in emo, the band released several hit songs, including its most renowned track "The Breakup Song," and continued releasing albums by the time pop punk made its resurgence in the mid-2010s. American Hi-Fi dropped its fifth studio album Blood & Lemonade, with Rude Records in 2014.
