Magma is a band from Paris that blends progressive rock with jazz fusion, art rock and avant-garde. Formed in 1969 by drummer Christian Vander, the band immediately stood apart for using the invented language of Kobaian, a phonetic amalgamation of Slavonic and Germanic languages, which most of its songs feature. Since the Magma released its eponymous debut album in 1970, the band has continued to push the boundaries of recorded and live music, expanding its diverse following with each sonic experimentation.
