Based in Kempten, Germany, Allgäu Comets is an American football club that features in the GFL. Founded in 1982 as Kempten Comets, the club is a member of the South Division of the league and plays its home fixtures at the Illerstadion. The team was a regular competitor in the GFL from 1985 to 1994. However since 1994, the club has had a complex history in the league and featured only in the lower divisions of American football in Germany until 2014 when they clinched the South Division crown of the GFL 2 and achieved promotion. Despite achieving playoff berths in recent years, the German Bowl trophy has remains elusive.
