The team’s nickname is El Submarino Amarillo, or ‘Yellow Submarine’ because of the squad’s kit color. Villareal plays its home games at El Madrigal stadium which holds a capacity of 24,890. The squad has always been considered as one of the underdogs in La Liga, especially when the team plays powerhouses like Real Madrid and Barça, however it can hold its own, especially when it comes to playing local rivals Castellón and Valencia.
