French self-proclaimed electropop trio Sourya formed in 2005 after meeting at the Parisian club The Shebeen. A year later, the band released an EP and a single that received a fair amount of airplay on French radio. Despite the band's roots in the electronica scene and evident preference for referring to itself as part of such, the group's music is far better described as indie rock influenced by French pop - considering the band is far more likely to use a piano and English lyric harmonies, rather than a laptop and synth beats. Regardless of what the band wants to call itself, it has built a respectable following in its native country and the UK.
