Papa Grows Funk

Taking the standards of funk music--the slap bass, horns, organ--and combining them with extended, almost jam-rock song structures, Papa Grows Funk has been a live staple in its home of New Orleans, Louisiana for ten years now. Its music is largely instrumental, with lead vocals occasionally sneaking into the mix. For the most part, however, the band relies on its tight, danceable rhythms and professional showmanship to make its point.
