The cross-genre sound of Dopapod is the result of fearless experimentation and a disregard for stylistic rules. With a buffet mix of influences that includes electronic and indie, classic and alternative rock, the four-piece band from Brooklyn first captured its sound in 2009 with its debut album Radar. Critically acclaimed for its experimental finesse, the album set the standard high for Dopapod and the band responded with its 2011 live follow-up I Saw Live Dopapod Live Evil I Was. Though recorded live the record featured spliced and mixed multi-track recordings that demonstrated the bands mastery of both dubstep drops and guitar-powered rock. Dopapod released its second studio album, Drawn Onward, in 2011.
