During the late '80s, Philippe Cerboneschi and Hubert Blanc-Francard were tirelessly composing instrumental tracks for various hip-hop artists. While the two Parisians were making a living making these beats, the duo felt like they could be accomplishing much more if they were working on their own original compositions. As the electronic music scene was just starting to take off, Cerboneschi and Blanc-Francard really started to immerse themselves in the genre and dedicate a good deal of time to crafting well thought of electronic songs. By the mid-'90s the duo called themselves Cassius and were some of the more popular French house musicians to emerge during electronic music's developmental period.
