Founded in 2002 by two choir directors, the Soweto Gospel Choir Group melds African gospel music with reggae and American popular music. The group has successfully performed at major events such as the first edition of the 46664 concerts in honor of the late Nelson Mandela. It has toured internationally and is well-sought-out-for, owing to its engaging and lively performances. The Soweto Gospel Choir has delivered multiple notable albums of which, African Spirit, Blessed and Freedom successfully won Grammy awards. The group has sung alongside the likes of Diana Ross, Deborah Cox, Tina Turner and Patti Labelle.
