More often than not, bands creating music that falls under the ambient (be it electronic or rock) genre tend to be a bit too lurid and unmemorable to take notice of. The music is typically rather vapid and tiresome, which results in many individuals decrying the ambient genre for being little more than a style of music that provides sparse musical enjoyment for folks who like existing in a world filled with minimal excitement. Luckily there’s the Indiana-based ambient group Odawas that proves all these naysayers wrong. Founded in 2003, Odawas is a duo that composes tasteful tunes that are mellow but also quick-paced and filled with interesting, expansive layers of sonic bliss. While the group has never really become a mainstream music phenomenon, Odawas has carved out a respectable niche for itself, and it continues to tour and release albums of original material.
