Classically trained opera singer and self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Alex Winston falls under the prodigy and virtuoso categories. By her late teens, the Detroit-based songstress began recording covers of various artists, ranging from The Rolling Stones to Mumford & Sons, playing all of the instruments (drums, guitar, piano, vocals) herself and layering the various instrumental recordings in her basement-turned-studio. After releasing these covers as a demo, Winston grabbed the attention of HeavyRoc records, who released the demo as a teaser to her debut album of original material. Since then, Alex Winston has quickly built a following of devoted fans, particularly in Europe, where she had a song featured in a Hyundai commercial.
