Sister to Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs and drummer for garage band Happy Birthday, Ruth Garbus was already heavily tied to the indie music scene before deciding to release any solo work. When she did release a solo album, she surprised many familiar with her previous work; her latest project was not fast-paced, loud or quirky, but instead hushed delicate folk, reminiscent of British folk singers of the 60s. While she is yet to receive much mainstream attention, she does have a devout following of fans, enamored by her voice and quiet folk.
