Beginning as a guitar and piano duo in 2003, the Philadelphia-based Buried Beds has since grown into an indie chamber rock group with as many as eight instrumentalists performing in the band at one time. Formed by friends Eliza Jones and Brandon Beaver, Buried Beds grew into something of an indie rock sensation in their home city of Philadelphia since the band was named the city's "Best Band" in Philadelphia Magazine's 2004 poll. The music of Buried Beds can be described as a strangely moving mixture of old-time Americana with flowingly melancholic instrumentation and vocals that serve to preserve the music's prevailing sense of sadness steeped in irony.
