Successfully melding outlaw country with a punk rock attitude to create an original breed of anti-folk, boyfriend-girlfriend duo Drug Rug decided to form a band on their first date in 2006. Winning over audiences with off-kilter stage performances and charm, the band's eponymous debut sold fairly well and landed the group a record deal and a tour opening for Dr. Dog. The duo's followup release Paint the Fence Invisible was recorded in an allegedly haunted house in the Catskill Mountains and provided a fitting setting for the duo to explore its DIY tendencies and backwoods ties.
