The Artemis Quartet is comprised of four string instrumentalists from Berlin. Members of the group are constantly perfecting their craft and they often takes sabbaticals in order to study their instruments further. The Artemis Quartet's repertoire consists of everything from Beethoven to Schubert to contemporary composers like Ligeti, famed for his score to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. The members of the group strongly believe that when composers like Beethoven wrote music, they were expressing deep feelings like entries from their diaries and the group therefore takes great care in its interpretations of master works.
