Birds of Avalon

Formed by the two lead guitarists of garage band The Cherry Valence, Birds of Avalon came into existence when this duo left its previous band, got married and decided to trade garage rock for neo-psychedelia. After recruiting three other Raleigh, North Carolina musicians, Birds of Avalon began refining its sound, incorporating elements of prog rock and jangle pop into its psych. Finding moderate success with the release of its debut album in 2007, the band decided it preferred a more vintage, retro sound and refused any computer aid in its production and recording on subsequent releases. The result has been several EPs and albums that evoke the 1960s, but still retain a modern understanding of music.
