Son of Dave Davies, of the Kinks fame, Daniel Davies met Rich Mullins, bassist of the band Karma to Burn, when Mullins was struggling with a cocaine addiction which forced him onto the streets. The two became fast friends but were hardly good influences on each other, as they ended up in rehab together for the next year. After breaking their habits, the two decided to make music together and met up with the drummer from Third Eye Blind, Brad Hargreaves. Grabbing the attention of industry gurus, the band, calling itself Year Long Disaster began touring and released a full length album. Though Hargreaves was forced to quit the band due to his commitment to Third Eye Blind, Mullins recruited other members of his former band Karma to Burn to fill Year Long Disaster's lineup. The two bands are rumored to have since merged into one band.
