Knoxville Tennessee-based band Coolrunings' sound is markedly similar to Animal Collective's noisy, drum machine-fueled pop. The band combines sparse live instrumentation with a fuller electronic sound reminiscent of 80s pop and new wave. The band also runs a label called Dracula Horse, which releases music from artists in the Knoxville area.
