Dixie Witch is the working name of a trio of musicians based out of Texas. The band formed in 1997 and creates a hybrid of retro-minded hard rock and psychedelic jam rock styles. Dixie Witch makes the best of its power trio format, consisting of only bass, drums, guitar and vocals. The group relies heavily on long electric guitar solos rooted in blues scales--the result of which attempt to conjure up similarities to similarly jammy, heavy rock groups such as Cream and Led Zeppelin. And though Dixie Witch's music certainly doesn't match the legendary status of the aforementioned bands, its heavy-hitting approach to classic rock will resonate with fans whose musical tastes aren't prone to changing with the times.
