Combining gentle guitar picking, violin, glockenspiel plunks and strong, emotive vocals, Dry the River creates a beautifully fragile form of folk music. The London-based five-piece began its career playing post punk-inspired music, oddly enough, before later switching to the much quieter, introspective tone it's now known for. Elements of gospel can be found in Dry the River's music, based largely on the reliance of vocals as a driving force in the songs. The musical accompaniment will often drop to a whisper or cut out altogether to allow for the passionate vocal interplay of lead singer Peter Liddle and his band mates. Fans of heart-on-sleeve folk will no doubt enjoy the hushed quality of Dry the River's music.
