Bologna, Italy band My Awesome Mixtape (MAM) is part of a US trend in independent pop music where electronic music genres like house and disco have factored into a 4/4 drumming pattern for bands wanting to keep their live band aesthetic. MAM makes shameless pop songs, mostly sung in English, and often highlighting crunchy-sounding synthesizers a la Daft Punk or even the Italo-disco roots of the band's home country. It may come as no surprise that MAM's fanbase resides on US soil, though they tour through out the world.
